Professor David Benjamin Keldani, B.D. Do I expect everyone to agree with me? Of course not! But I would hope that a few may give me a fair hearing and not be a clone to the opinions of the those around t Then, we turn to the facts about the author, which establish the date of the revelation. All evidence points to a first century fulfillment of the prophecy. We then turn to the internal evidence and the expectancy of the end to come soon. The late date theory has been passed on to us in the same way it was passed on to Eusebius, one must admit that "it handed down by tradition." However, tradition is not the proper way to interpret the historicity of Scripture and establish dates of writings and events. It has been accepted by later generations of people without anyone questioning or examining it in light of the internal facts of the book itself. We scholars know that scribal errors were so common in antiquity that the author of the Book of Revelation threatened damnation to anyone who "adds' or takes away words from the text. I for one am not willing to be as one of my Jewish colleague has written "To follow one is to a clone" Nor am I willing to be labeled a "heretic" because I don't just fall into line with everyone. We show that it is the only evidence used to support the "late date" theory of Revelation's authorship. There are three main subjects we examine One is the external evidence that comes from Polycarp's statement, with all of its uncertainty.
